Chapter 1645 - 1645: Welcome to Wonderland
Chapter 1645 - 1645: Welcome to Wonderland
[Alright, who called it that they were going to try and jump our Lord instead of taking his gracious offer to stop their stupid conflict?][That was me,] Blazejudicator answered.
[Then, as agreed upon in the wager, you get first pick in regards of opponents. Do you have anyone in mind?] Nepherage asked.
[I have been studying Hulna's voyeuristic ass for a while now...I feel like I need to be the one to put an end to it, ya feel me?]
[Completely understandable,] Razorstella agreed. [I've been wanting to take a crack at Feroxxa for a while now. He irks me.]
[Alright, that leaves the princes, the elite fighters from the Erupting Dawn Empire, and that cavalcade of corpse warriors from the Sacred Flame Theocracy,] Nepherage listed off. [Who wants to fight who?]
...Speaking of those dumb mother fuckers...
"I can't fly. I can't fly!"
"Are we falling? No... we're getting sucked in!"
"Crash out maneuvers, now!"
It was a very weird feeling for the aether warriors of both the Erupting Dawn Empire and the Sacred Flame Theocracy to having one of their key abilities suddenly shut down on them.
Especially since it shut down while they were staring into what they could only describe as an endless corridor of manmade structures.
An endless corridor that they realized was radiating an energy only a select
"Is...is that a wandering ruin? Has this always been here?!" One of the princes shouted at the priests from Emberona.
"N-no," Hulna answered. "This area has always been devoid of such things, as there isn't a high enough concentration of aether to maintain such a structure. The only way for a place such as this to exist is if someone was to forcibly summon it here."
"Fuck."
The concept of summoning and or gaining control of a wandering ruin wasn't unknown to the wider world of aether warriors. However, the ability to do so required either an incredibly powerful aether treasure or the warrior in question being of at least the Aether Emperor rank.
In other words, these dumbasses picked a fight with someone that was clearly out of their league.
"Wait! I have an aether treasure that allows movement through the air. Maybe we can—"
SLAM!
"—FUCK!"
Before they could even get their brains to realize that there was a small chance of escape the door that had dropped them into this place, wherever it was, suddenly closed behind them with a slam. Seconds after, the door behind them shimmered and disappeared like mist in the wind.
"Fuck...FUCK!"
"Guess there's no going back..."
"What even is this place?!"
Now that they had no way of getting back to the clearing, the warriors of both sides proceeded to turn their focus towards the endless fall before them.
To their left and right, they could see multi-colored pillars that seemed to rise endlessly into a void above their heads, and continue downwards into an infinite abyss below their feet.
At this rate, the warriors from both the Empire and the Theocracy felt as if they were going to fall for an eternity due to their ability float being turned off. Until, for no reason they could adequately explain, they felt a wave of energy wash over them that made them feel as if something had fundamentally changed in the air.
"Wait...we could fly again!"
"Float, motherfuckers, float!"
One by one, the warriors from both sides began to circulate aether and stop their downward momentum as quickly as possible.
"Holy shit..."
"That was way too close."
...POV Change...
=A little bit of both honestly. Just make you don't beat them up too much before we let the kaijin have a go.=
... Isn't it spelled "bookworm"?...
"Where the hell are we?"
"I don't know, but there is the omnipresent feeling of dread that's been rubbing against my skin the entire time we've been here..."
"Maybe taking a closer look at one of the pillars will help?"
Despite them being bitter enemies, the Erupting Dawn Princes and the Sacred Flame religious leaders understood that it was probably smarter for them to work together to escape this situation, and then attempt to murder each other form the agent of their own familiar territory.
Or, at the very least, someplace that wasn't in a weird floating void of endless bullshit.
"Weird question, is anyway else cursing a lot more than usual."
"Yes."
"Fuck yes."
"Go fuck yourself, and yes."
"Fucking hell..."
Evidently, the same aura that the Kaijin Lord was exuding that caused the lot of them to act and think in a significantly more casual manner was a lot more potent in this weird space.
Regardless of the increased vulgarity of the situation, though, the forced allies did their best to try and pool their resources together.
"Wait...what's wrong with those guys? Why do they look like enhanced versions of the warriors you send to fight our Raidmen?" Prince Galban asked as they squinted their eyes towards the direction of one of the False Crusaders.
The False Crusader, in turn, directed a weird gaze in his direction. The gaze of this warrior was as hollow as a corpse, but carried a fiery energy that suggested that there was something deeper hidden within.
That said, neither Hulna nor Feroxxa were willing to explain anything further than what was necessary.
"How about we focus on the fact that the Kaijin Lord appeared to have dumped us into some random ass wandering ruin, okay?" Feroxxa answered in a rude manner. "Maybe follow the lead of your subordinates and examine one of the pillars."
"Bitch."
The aforementioned elite warriors that the Erupting Dawn Empire had brought long were indeed looking over the strange pillars that decorated the place, all while under the direction of Prince Lauvanne.
"Your highness, these pillars...they appear to be... bookshelves?"
"Indeed they are..." Lauvanne muttered in agreement as he reached out a hand towards the pillar.
A transparent barrier prevented him from being able to actually touch the books, but he could still make out some of the titles.
Emphasis on the word, "some".
While several had their titles in Scorch Talk, the rest appeared to be in languages from the other continents.
"A Treatise on the Art of Transformation,
1001 Recipes by the Iron Dragon Chef,
A history of the Skyfire Emperor...wait a minute."
Lauvanne recognized the title of that last book because it was a part of a list of books dedicated to people that the rest of the world attempted to erase from history.
The Skyfire Emperor was infamous for his attempt to try and fight one of the Majestic Sects of the inner continent, and failing dramatically.
Ever since, his name has been deemed worthy of erasure.
"The last of these books were burned centuries ago," Lauvanne commented aloud. "How could it possibly be inside of a wandering ruin?"
After making this comment, Lauvanne began to look up and down the pillar in order to skim through the titles.
With every title he read, his eyes grew wider and wider, and an unsettling feeling began to bubble deep inside him.
"Most...most of these books are forbidden pieces of literature that have been banished to the furthest corners of the world or erased entirely," Lauvanne said. "But they're all here plain as day...the only place that could contain all of these tomes would be...oh no."
Lauvanne was the most scholarly of his siblings, so he knew more than them when it came to the history and secrets of the world.
In other words, he had a very good suspicion where they were given everything that had just happened.
"We... we're in the Demon's Archive," Lauvanne declared with terrified certainty in his voice. "WE'RE IN THE FUCKING DEMON'S ARCHIVE!"
Now, this should've been the moment Lauvanne's brothers would come over and try to provide some words of comfort to their panicking sibling, or the two only living mortal from the Sacred Flame Theocracy would try to get more answers, but...something interrupted them.
A deep resounding roar echoed throughout the area they were floating in and caused them all to immediately raise their guards in response.
They weren't entirely sure what manner of beast could live in a place such as this, but they were more than ready to fight as their lives depended on it.
"Get into formation!"
"Ready your weapons!"
"By the ancestors, what is that thing?!"
Roar!
Seconds after the warrior scrambled to meet the enemy, the enemy reared its head.
Swimming through the air like a snake in water, a long, dragon-like beast approached the two groups of warriors with murder in its eyes.
As it got closer and close, the two groups could feel that it definitely wasn't a normal dragon.
"What do we do? What do we do?!"
"Unleash hell, godsdammit! Attack!"
