Chapter 907: The Limits of Vengeance
Chapter 907: The Limits of Vengeance
The world blurred to blue, and Jason hummed as he saw hundreds of Falicans standing around motionlessly and staring at the floor. The mana signature in the rain was also present inside the head of these Falicans, so Jason was certain that they were under the witch’s control! Jason narrowed his eyes and spread his senses even further to try to see if there was anyone not under the witches’ control, and Jason finally found a group of survivors living in a system of caves and underground bunkers built into a mountain. That meant that there were some people the rain couldn’t affect. It was probably because they had higher mental strength or something.Jason’s frown deepened. Usually, Jason would be able to get as much information as he wanted about this situation by killing one of the mind-controlled Falicans, but Jason knew that these Falicans weren’t at fault here, and they were only being controlled, so he didn’t feel right about killing them. And from what Jason could see, it might be possible to reverse this mind control if he killed the Witch, so Jason decided he wasn’t going to kill them, and he just spoke to his Legion.
’Spread out and search for her. Anyone who finds her first should alert me immediately.’
Hundreds of subordinates immediately surged out from Jason’s Alternate Dimension, and they spread out to start looking for the Witch! Jason knew it would be difficult to find the Witch using her magical essence since every drop of rain in this world and the next three worlds parallel to it were all infused with her magic essence, so the best way to find her was to simply send out as many subordinates as possible to search for her. Jason only watched the scene in front of him for a few more seconds before he activated [King’s Substitute] and vanished from the cliff. Jason reappeared on the opposite side of the world, just outside a large forest that had turned into a massive swamp due to the rain. There were a few Falicans moving around with mindless, droopy looks on their faces, and the moment they saw Jason, they immediately turned and ran towards him to attack!
Slam!
Jason simply waved his hand, and a gust of wind slammed into the Falicans and threw them into the distance! Jason didn’t want to kill them because he knew that this wasn’t their fault, so he held back considerably to make sure they were only knocked out. Loud roars echoed from all around him, and Jason could tell that there were even more Falicans heading in his direction. Jason put his hand out and released enough mana to create a Dimensional Tear, and Jason walked through the magical gate and left Falic.
...
[The World of Hondura]
’Huh, this is a lot worse than I thought it’d be. How long has it been raining here?’
If Jason thought that Falic was bad, then he didn’t even know what to say about Hondura. Everything for as far as the eye could see was submerged in a massive flood. From where Jason was standing on top of a high mountain, Jason could see a large town in the distance that had a few people moving around and trying to fix a leak in the roof of a floating house while clearing out water from inside! There was water everywhere! The floods came up to the shoulders of many of the Hondurans, and nearly every house was submerged! From what Jason had learned about this world from the system, only females were capable of using magic in Hondura, and the Hondurans had gone through a period of witch hunting where more than ninety percent of the witches were captured and killed by the former King! It was obvious that the Witch of Calamity had done all this as a form of revenge against the Hondurans! But even though Jason understood her anger, that doesn’t mean he could just allow her to do whatever she wanted.
’My King, I’m currently in the Castle of the Honduran Royal family. The delegates here are planning an attack on a location, and I believe it might be the hiding place of the Witch of Calamity.’
Jason hummed as a Pawn Rank subordinate spoke to him through their mental link, and Jason glanced at the townspeople struggling with the flooding house once again. Jason raised his hand and activated [Aquamarina]!
Swoosh!
The Hondurans were all shocked as the water in the house began to float into the air and fly out on its own! The townspeople took multiple steps back in surprise, and they were even more shocked when they saw all the water in the region clearing out! The water floated up into a massive ball in the sky, and Jason flicked his hand to the side and sent it towards a large river before he snapped his finger! The rain immediately stopped, and the townspeople could only look up in disbelief as they saw the sun shining over them for the first time in years! What in the world was going on!? The townspeople looked around to try to figure out who was responsible for this, but Jason had already activated [King’s Substitute], and he vanished from the town.
.....
[The Honduran Royal Castle]
The Honduran Royal Castle was the last haven for the People of Hondura. After the Witch of Calamity emerged ten years ago, the Witch Slayers and the knights have all been struggling to deal with the sheer number of minions she had under her command. Varina had taken over more than eighty percent of the civilians in Hondura, and the only reason she hadn’t taken control of this world yet was because the Witch Slayers were protected by the anti-magic runes in their armor. The Honduran royal Castle was located on top of a high mountain that allowed it to avoid most of the floods caused by the rain, and the Witch Slayers had formed a protective perimeter around the castle that blocked any enemies from getting closer.
Inside the castle, the Honduran King was in the war room looking down at a large map of Hondura as they tried to form a plan for their next attack against the Witch of Calamity. The current king of Honduras was also the strongest Rune crafter in the army. His name was King Triggan, and he had seven other men standing beside him as they tried to organize their forces. The art of runecrafting was seen as a very precious skill to the Hondurans, and that was why the secrets of Rune Arts were only passed from one king down to another. On either side of the King were powerful generals who were all members of the Witch Slayer group, and they all had frowns on their faces as they spoke in tense voices!
"We’ve managed to narrow down the Witch location to this region here. An attack should lure her out and give us a chance to take her down."
One of the generals, a tall man with a bald head, spoke up seriously, but another man at his side huffed and spoke in a snarky tone.
"That’s what you said last time, but we ended up losing more than fifty percent of the attacking force in a flood. The Witch isn’t foolish enough to leave her hideout without protection."
Another general brought up a bigger issue.
"And what about the civilians under her control? We’ve done our best not to harm them too much since they are not at fault, but we can’t advance if we don’t start killing them."
"Then kill them."
All the generals turned to look at the King as he spoke.
