Chapter 85: Thada’s Warning (2) Part II

Chapter 85: Thada’s Warning (2) Part II

“I would. I’m the one who destroyed the formula.” His deadpan answer got Maysa stunned.

“For what?”

“To maintain the balance of the server,” Thada said clearly. “These items are dangerous. They are too powerful, which might cause the game to lose balance. So, I have to downsize the players who would be able to use them, as least as I can. It means that the owners of these weapons are the ones who got selected by their skills, too. Because, if anyone can just buy anything they want, the game will be half less fun, don’t you think so?”

The girls nodded in understanding in the explanation. And yes, that was how the game used to be. If a player was rich enough, they would be able to buy a good weapon formula for themselves right away. That was why the poorer players would have a disadvantage on the items.

“That’s why I had to destroy many of the S ranked items down, to maintain the balance.”

“So, this gun I just got from you, turned out to be useless, didn’t it?” Maysa complained while she was waving the gun in her hand with a displeased expression, making the man put on an amused smile at that.

“Don’t worry about that. I didn’t ban your gun, but I’ve upgraded it to be a key item ranked,” he said, smiling. “I just destroy the item formula, not the item.”

“What do you mean?”

“I’ve made it a legendary item.”

“Huh?”

“Well, I did not actually completely delete those formulas, though. I just hide them in the form of puzzles. Maybe you will accidentally find some of them in a quest, or maybe a monster drops it. Oh, I put some of them in the treasure maps from the dungeons, too.”

“So, you’re saying that you hide those key items like a mystery treasure for the players to solve the puzzles to find it. Right, Da?”

“Right.” He grinned brightly.

“You’ve changed the item formulas into treasure maps instead?”

“That’s right, too. However, the clues are not going to be so easy. Those who want to find these key items, have to complete many quests and puzzles. And this will make these items worth inestimably. This is what is called key items.”

Maysa looked at the gun in her hand immediately. So, this was why the crowd got so excited when she was asking Thada for this item. Well, who would have thought that she would just own a legendary item this easily!?

“I think I understand about this new item rank in the new patch update now,” Maysa said leisurely as she was looking him in the eyes. “And about you’re here to warn us, what is it?”

“Well, it’s about the ownership of the item,” Thada replied with a polite smile. “After my long reference just now, you may be able to guess how much these items are worth.”

“And...?”

“So, I decided to write a new rule about owning the key items, which is that a player can only own 3 pieces of key items. If anyone violates this, the items will be confiscated, and become the properties of the GMs immediately.” Listening to this, the girl snorted in her throat, sounding like ‘huh!’

“Isn’t that too convenient for you, Mister Thada.” She started being salty again. “You just updated a new patch just a moment ago, and now you’re planning to take players’ items away. What if someone’s been holding more than three pieces of the items for quite a while? Isn’t it too cruel for them?”

“Don’t worry, Miss Maysa,” the man cut her off gently. “There were only 14 players who owned key items, and each of them only had one piece.” An unexpected answer got Maysa silent. “But currently, there’re 16 players now, including you who have the illusion...”

Thada paused purposely as he glanced at Wisana who was still passed out there.

“And, Vincent who has the Element and the Darkness.” The grey eyes suddenly widened from new information she was just told.

“Those items are the key items, too?”

Thada paused for a moment like he was trying to read Maysa’s expression.

“Yes, they are,” the tall man replied plainly. “I don’t know where you got the information about these items from. But I gotta admit that I was surprised when I heard you name them, too.”

He added, before giving an honest smile. And Maysa realized this was the reason why everyone in the dome, including Thada, went silent, completely unlike when she said the name illusion.

“What’s wrong with these two items, Da?” Waree asked after she was quiet for quite a while.

“They are very rare items. They were the items that existed in the past that were owned by a player before,” Thada replied. “Those two items disappeared from the server for a long time. Even though there were so many players who wanted them, the components and the formulas were too complex that no one could recreate the items ever again.”

“Whoa! So, they’re literally the legendary items, aren’t they?”

“Yeah, this was why everyone was stunned when you requested these items. I don’t really know how they work, though. I just hope that you would find ways to use them agilely, or these items would definitely go to waste.

Maysa did not argue with that right away. Her fair smooth face looked down at Wisana like she was lost in her thoughts. But in the blink of an eye, the round grey eyes were sparkling as they looked up again. She was smiling at him.

“Don’t worry. Vincent’s totally going to master them. I’m sure.”

The confirmation got the GM nodding slightly with a smile.

“That’s good. Then I hope that you’d also understand that right now, Vincent already owns two pieces of key items. And that makes him the player who has the most legendary items in the server implicitly.”

“You’re right,” Maysa muttered.

“That’s why I want to warn you about this, too. From now on, Vincent will be able to hold only one more key item. He can’t have more than this, or we’ll confiscate all the items he has for violating the rules on the key item ownership right away.”

The serious statement made the girl sigh. She felt worried for Wisana somehow. It was true that she used him for the attention of the other players. But that was mainly in the name of Vincent. But then, it turned out that this guy had to be on a watch because he held two pieces of the legendary items!

Should this be called good luck or bad luck?!

“Don’t worry,” Maysa said eventually. “I’ll tell him about this later. Thank you for telling us about the item ownership rule.”

“No problem.”

Thada just nodded in response, even though he knew that she was just being sarcastic toward him.

“Oh, I also have another thing to warn you about,” he said like he just realized something.

“There’s another thing?!” The shock made the manner she faked earlier completely gone. That brought an amused smile to the handsome face for a second, before he continued.

“Be a little careful of those hunters, too.”
