Chapter 23 [Low-Level Water Element Affinity]
Chapter 23 [Low-Level Water Element Affinity]
Vesemir and Geralt stared at the lake.
Seeing Alwin emerge from the water, Cat Eyes froze for a second before his pupils suddenly dilated.
Beneath the grotesque head of the drowned spirit, foul blood flowed continuously, staining the river surface red.
Vesemir's breathing became slightly rapid.
If a Witcher apprentice had single-handedly killed a drowning undead in the water, Vesemir would have absolutely refused to believe it in the past, and might even have laughed at the person for dreaming.
But now, the facts are right before our eyes.
As soon as Alwin's body left the water, before he could adjust, the intense feeling of weightlessness caused him to stumble.
Vesemir suddenly lunged forward, as fast as lightning, and steadily caught the other person.
"Arwin!?"
Geralt followed closely behind.
Vesemir glanced at it and shouted.
"Geralt, he's bleeding a lot. [Golden Oriole], quickly bring out [Golden Oriole]."
Geralt quickly took a black vial from his pouch full of potions and uncorked it.
Alwin opened his mouth and bit the bottle opening, drinking all of the [Golden Oriole] into his mouth. The bitter taste drilled in his throat, but the tearing pain in his body was quickly relieved.
Veris hurried over and said urgently, "Don't stay here, his body temperature is too low, he needs a warm fire, let's go to the camp."
Geralt grunted in agreement, and without waiting for Arwen's consent, he hoisted the latter onto his back and charged at full speed toward the cliffside camp.
……
At the cliffside camp.
Vesemir made an Igni sign with his right hand toward the campfire, and the campfire was instantly ignited, bursting into orange-red flames.
Geralt laid Arwen down on the wool blanket that had been laid out beforehand.
"That's enough, move aside and give me some space."
Veris stretched out his hands, palms facing Alwin, and chanted a spell, magic surging within him.
Green specks emerged from her fair palms, like countless fireflies flying towards Alwin's entire body.
Those horrifying wounds were enveloped in green specks and healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Alwin let out a comfortable breath, like drinking a warm cup of tea on a cold winter's day, feeling completely relaxed.
Geralt stood aside and watched this scene quietly, his cat-like eyes flashing with undisguised curiosity and astonishment.
Aside from Veris's aerial flight and his own hand seals, this was the first time he had carefully observed magic.
Vesemir, being well-informed, recognized it at a glance as a [Healing Spell]. Given the other party's status, Arwen's life was safe.
Veris glanced at the two of them.
"Stop staring at it, go prepare some food."
Vesemir turned around and said, "Geralt, go and start cooking the prepared broth. I'll keep an eye on Aiken and the others."
Geralt shrugged. "Yeah."
Thirty minutes later.
Alwin had already sat up, pulling the wool blanket draped over his body tighter with both hands. The flames of the campfire were reflected in his cat-like eyes, and his stiff body warmed up considerably.
Geralt sat down beside him, ladled a bowl of soup from an earthenware pot over the fire, and handed it to Arwen.
Arwen accepted it with both hands; the atmosphere was so quiet that the crackling of the burning firewood could be heard.
Geralt didn't say anything, he just patted him on the shoulder.
it is more than words.
Arwen knew in his heart that after this battle, he had completely integrated into Kaer Morhen, not as an apprentice, but as a witcher.
"Get some rest, I'm going to check over there."
After saying this, Geralt got up and walked towards the edge of the cliff.
Vesemir and Veris watched the apprentices below as they spoke in hushed tones.
Upon seeing Geralt approach, Vesemir asked.
"How is Arwen?"
Geralt said, "You've recovered quite well."
Vesemir cast a grateful glance at Veris.
Veris said, "No need to thank me. This is something I did voluntarily. I would help even strangers."
"There is one thing, did you notice that it took about ten minutes after Alwyn was dragged into the water by the drowning undead?"
"At this time, even if you remain still in the water, it would be enough for a person to suffocate, but Alwin was able to fight in the water and even kill the drowning undead. It's truly an incredible thing."
Geralt agreed with Veris's words after hearing them.
Vesemir pondered for a moment before speaking, "Ms. Veris, the mutations of witchers bring about tremendous changes to the human body. According to previous records, it's not just the skin and cat eyes that are affected, but also other things."
"Take Geralt's hair, for example. That's the result of a second mutation, which also gave him stronger physical functions."
"As for Alwin, he might have undergone a second mutation in his lungs, making him much stronger than an ordinary witcher."
Veris chuckled but did not argue.
She had lived for hundreds of years and seen all sorts of strange bodies, but she had never heard of any secondary mutation in the lungs.
Vesemir's words were clearly meant to protect Arwen, not wanting her to interfere excessively.
Suddenly, the three looked down and saw an apprentice leaning against the stone wall, surrounded by three water ghosts. The silver sword in his hand was visibly trembling, and the situation was critical.
Without the slightest hesitation, the three of them immediately took action.
Alwin sat by the fire, finished a full bowl of meat soup, and noticed the three leaving.
He glanced at Brad, who was still unconscious not far away, before opening the system panel.
"Drowning Necromancer, a BOSS-level mutant."
He couldn't help but rub his hands together, his heart filled with anticipation.
[Drowning Necromancer Mutant: Installing this mutant slightly increases speed and grants the yellow talent, Low-level Water Elemental Affinity]
Like the Water Ghost, it only slightly increases speed, but the subsequent talent caught Alwin's eye.
[Low-level Water Affinity (Yellow): Gains affinity with the water element; in a meditative state, one can begin to perceive the movement of water elements in the world.]
Water is one of the four elements.
"Ms. Veris told me that Witchers have great difficulty perceiving the elements due to a mutation."
"As I could tell from my previous meditation, she was right; I didn't gain a single experience point in two hours."
But now, all of that will be reversed.
Alwin could hardly contain his joy.
Install the drowning necromancy mutant!
[Drowning Necromancer Mutant Installed Successfully]
In an instant, Alwin felt a cool sensation emanating from his spine and spreading throughout his limbs and bones.
He felt something flowing in his field of vision, constantly converging towards the White Stone River beside him.
It's the water element!
Alvin suppressed his excitement, quickly closed his eyes, and, following the meditation method, soon perceived those light blue dots.
[Basic meditation experience +1!]
Upon hearing the system notification, Alvin's heart skipped a beat with excitement.
My experience with basic meditation has finally broken zero!
From nothing to something, this is a tremendous change.
Liver, keep working on your liver!
