Chapter 22 Detention
Chapter 22 Detention
Upon entering the locker room, the post-match interview was conducted by team captain Rookie.
The others stayed behind to rest, while Daeny and Mafa kept rewatching the two games they had just played.
Rookie returned quickly after the interview.
"Everyone stay and listen carefully, let's review what happened in the game." Daeny clapped his hands, stopping everyone who was preparing to return to base.
Then, at Daeny's prompting, Mafa switched the screen display in front of everyone.
"We did a great job in the early game here. Jiejie going straight into their jungle was a good choice," Daeny said, pointing to the screen.
The scene shows the TES team entering the red zone in the first game, and Jiejie making the decision to swap positions.
The screen scrolled, and Daeny continued, "Then we dove the tower in the bottom lane, and we did a great job too."
Daeny praised him a few more times, then the scene switched to the Vanguard Team, showing the point where Mu Chun made a mistake.
"Here, I'd like to know what you were thinking while you were fighting?" Daeny asked.
Jiejie said, "I think we should take down the dragon first, and then decide whether to engage in team fights based on the situation."
The others also shared their thoughts one after another.
Finally, Mu Chun said, "I feel like we should start a team fight. Our lineup isn't fast at taking down the dragon."
"We definitely need to take down the dragon first, and your positioning is very problematic," Jiejie retorted.
Mu Chun then spoke up, "My positioning is a bit aggressive, but we need to initiate a team fight. If I stand there, I can deal damage once the team fight starts."
"With our lineup, we don't need you, Mu Chun, to initiate team fights. You don't need to be so aggressive," Meiko's voice chimed in.
Seeing that the group was about to argue, Daeny coughed loudly, interrupting the three of them.
"Listen to me, we absolutely have to initiate this team fight. We're taking the dragon too slowly, giving the enemy time to position themselves."
"But you all have a problem. If you're going to team fight, Jiejie, you can't just stand in the dragon pit, whether you're taking resources first or fighting first." Daeny pointed to Jiejie on the screen who was in the dragon pit.
Jiejie nodded, indicating that she understood.
Daeny then pointed at Mu Chun, who was positioned too aggressively, and said, "Mu Chun, your positioning is really too aggressive. You're thinking too much about output. If you stand a little further back, you won't lose much output."
"Also, you initiated team fights very well this game, but as Meiko said, our lineup doesn't require you to initiate team fights, and you can't always initiate on both carries. I hope you don't develop the habit of always going in to initiate team fights."
Hearing this, Mu Chun was stunned for a moment.
Daeny's statement is not unreasonable. The fact that they were able to maintain their lead until the end of the game was entirely due to the talent "Forbidden Wall".
However, after experiencing the constant dual-carry synergy, it's really hard to resist the urge to initiate team fights.
Mu Chun nodded, "I was indeed a bit too radical."
Seeing the two nod, Daeny pointed out a few more mistakes.
Those who were called on nodded in agreement.
Next, Mafa switched the screen to the second game.
After seeing Meiko give up first blood, Daeny said sincerely, "This time, it was my fault. I didn't redeploy my opening strategy, which led to us being caught out."
The scene then cuts to Mu Chun and Meiko getting a kill in the bottom lane, after which they decide to switch to the top lane to continue their laning phase.
"Switching to a different line here is a good move, it's your own style, Mu Chun, and I think it's great," Daeny praised.
"Okay, thank you, Coach," Mu Chun replied with a smile.
The scene switched again, this time showing two team fights in a row: the first wave of Broodlings and the second dragon fight.
"Let's talk about these two team fights together. They both have the same problem: you guys completely failed to communicate properly."
Daeny pointed to Jiejie, Muchun, and Rookie on the two group screens.
"Didn't you notice how disjointed the shots were when you were hitting them?"
"Jiejie, you always fly in, leaving Rookie or Muchun behind, unable to keep up even if they want to."
"I want to go in and disrupt their formation," Jiejie suddenly said.
Daeny nodded. "I know, but there's no one to meet you when you go in."
He pointed to the position of the brood swarm, "We're all in the front, no one can help you flank. If Mu Chun retreats, you won't even be able to replace Kalista."
Next up was the dragon fight. "Look at this wave, it's true that Rookie was there, but he was still in a more frontal position, and in the end, you were the one who traded for Kalista."
"The main reason you were able to win was because TheShy came and saved Muchun. Otherwise, this dragon fight would have ended up like the Nexus fight."
Daeny then raised several more questions about team fights.
"Finally, I want to emphasize that we must communicate more, and you are a team, so trust your teammates. League of Legends is a five-player game."
"Then, when you get back, everyone remember to write down what happened in today's competition, what you did wrong, and your thoughts at the time. Give it to me tomorrow, OK?"
"OK," Mu Chun replied.
The others nodded in agreement.
……
The next day, at the IG base.
"Mu Chun, if only you could play AD like you do with auto-attacks when you play Twisted Fate," Meiko sighed.
On the screen, Mu Chun is working on a card, wanting to see the specific changes after reaching full level.
Right now, he's in the bottom lane, kiting and maneuvering while precisely picking up cards. "What are you talking about? Can you even speak like a human? I can kite smoothly when I play AD, okay?"
"Think about it yourself, is it possible to get past your own auto-attack even once out of ten times?" Meiko immediately retorted.
"After I finish this game, let's have a one-on-one match. I'll show you what the ultimate kiting is all about," Mu Chun replied immediately.
Just then, Daeny came in and said, "Stop the one-on-one fight. After you finish, come and discuss your next opponent."
Mu Chun responded.
Soon, under Mu Chun's skillful manipulation, the opponent gave up resistance and surrendered.
After the game ended, Mu Chun immediately got up, went behind Daeny, and looked at the screen.
The screen shows a recording of TT's match in the next round.
Soon, the recordings of TT's previous group stage and knockout stage matches were played.
Daeny asked, "How do you feel?"
Mu Chun pondered for a moment.
TT's top lane champion picks are mostly tanks, and the key is that he has a good Galio top laner.
Currently, the three heroes in Muchun's hero pool—Azir, Cassiopeia, and Twisted Fate—are all AP damage dealers who struggle to counter Galio.
Twisted Fate might be able to be played as an ADC with attack speed items, and only Twisted Fate can keep up with Galio's wave clear and roaming capabilities.
He immediately replied, "I feel that their top laner has a decent champion pool. As long as they have Galio, it won't be easy for me to pressure them if I switch lanes. Picking Twisted Fate would probably be better."
Daeny nodded, and then the others shared their thoughts one after another.
TT's playing style is not distinctive, and judging from the game content and the strength of the lineup, they are still considered a weak team.
TT also has the same problem that weak teams in the LPL generally have.
After gaining a huge advantage, they couldn't find a way to end the game.
In other words, once they have a huge advantage, they will find it difficult to end the game elsewhere if they don't have the usual methods to force team fights, such as securing objectives like Baron or Dragon.
This problem, naturally, gives other teams a great deal of leeway.
