Global Mercenaries: Starting from the Russia-Ukraine War

The last 3 minutes of Chapter 53

The last 3 minutes of Chapter 53

Meanwhile, on the main battlefield.

Because Ruslan was wounded and forced to retreat, the enemy's second armored vehicle and the remaining infantry took the opportunity to advance rapidly.

"They're coming in." Artyom, who had led Ruslan to the second row of carriages, stared at the armored vehicle.

"Send them to hell!" Roman, from the blind spot on the east side, suddenly pressed the remote detonator.

Several directional mines placed along the edge of the carriage and the C4 under the chassis were detonated simultaneously.

"Boom!"

This explosion was even more terrifying than the previous one.

The armored vehicle was overturned on the ground.

The infantrymen who tried to advance behind the armored vehicle were torn to shreds in an instant, even letting out screams.

"Clear the area from the front," Artyom reported in the channel.

Eugene glanced at the tactical tablet and said quickly:

"Boss, drone view confirmed. The frontal assault force has been wiped out. Enemy forces on the west flank are retreating."

"Of their fifty-man assault team, only about ten men have retreated back towards the control building. Among them are several seriously wounded, and less than eight are still combat-ready."

"We have time to catch our breath."

Seven minutes.

In just seven minutes, an elite commando team of fifty men was almost completely wiped out by the six members of the Black Scythe Squad.

-----------------

Yuri hid behind the wheel, quickly changed to a new magazine, and glanced down at the tactical watch on his wrist.

"No, they won't give us much time." Yuri took a deep breath, his mind racing.

"Nearly ten minutes have passed since the enemy commander called for rapid reaction force support from Red City. According to intelligence, considering the straight-line distance and assembly time, it will take them at least fifteen minutes."

"The heavy fog tonight has greatly slowed their progress."

Yuri's eyes turned cold, and he decisively gave the order:

"Now! Roman, blow up M-30! Cut off their reinforcements!"

"Understood! This is the moment we've been waiting for!"

Roman, who was far away on the eastern side, took out another detonator from his tactical vest, lifted the protective cover, and pressed it down hard.

Three seconds later.

"Boom—Rumble!"

Ten kilometers away from Kalinovka, a series of muffled and shocking explosions came from the direction of the M-30 highway.

Even from this distance, everyone could still feel the ground trembling slightly.

"Well done."

After Yuri finished speaking, he accessed Major Vorov's encrypted channel on the tactical terminal.

"Worov! How much longer are you going to watch the show outside?" Yuri questioned bluntly.

A dismissive voice came from the other end of the channel: "Calm down, Yuri. I've seen the explosion on the M-30 highway. Good job. My armored company is still advancing. Give me five more minutes at most."

Yuri sneered, "Five minutes? Major, do you think I'm a recruit? I'll only give you three minutes."

"If I don't hear your artillery fire on the eastern flank within three minutes, I'll immediately blow up the southern wall. The six of us will then withdraw directly from Kalinovka!"

"You dare?" Vorov's voice rose instantly. "That's six million dollars worth of NATO military aid! You dare leave it to the Ukrainians?"

"What use is money to me if I'm dead?" Yuri's tone was icy. "Three minutes. Countdown begins."

"You damned bastard! Scum!" Vorov cursed into the communicator, but he only managed two sentences before switching to a furious tone, yelling, "First Company! Open fire! Charge in!"

Subsequently, communications were unilaterally cut off.

While operating the tablet, Eugene turned to look at Yuri and asked in a low voice:

"Boss, aren't you afraid that Wolf might not make it in time? Or that he might turn on us after we threaten him like this?"

Yuri pushed his mask up and spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva.

"Vorov is a greedy fat pig, but he is, after all, a major in the regular Russian army, and his tactical skills are by no means lacking."

"He must have arrived on the outskirts of Kalinovka long ago. He wanted to use us as bait to deplete the defenders as much as possible and reduce his own casualties."

"As for turning against him?" Yuri scoffed. "He wouldn't dare. In the eyes of the Undertaker's higher-ups, a complete special operations team capable of carrying out this level of infiltration and sabotage missions is invaluable. He wouldn't dare to directly challenge the company's leadership."

-----------------

Just then, a new communication came through the hijacked enemy command channel.

"Sir! The M-30 highway bridge has been blown up! The rapid reaction force from Red City is stuck ten kilometers away! They need to take a detour, and it will take them at least thirty minutes to get there!"

These words caused another uproar on the Ukrainian army's command channel.

"Shut up! All of you shut up!" The newly appointed B Company commander roared.

"Even without a rapid reaction force, we can still crush these rats! We can still hold our ground!"

Immediately afterwards, a hoarse voice reported:

"Company commander, the attack on the south flank has failed... We've encountered a series of explosive traps. The assault team has suffered heavy losses."

"Two armored vehicles on the front were destroyed, and all the attackers were killed. Three elite soldiers remained on the west side, and four attackers remained on the east side."

The command channel fell into a deathly silence.

The B company commander seemed to be grinding his teeth, forcing out the words: "You bunch of useless trash..."

"But sir! We've wounded one of their heavy machine gunners!" the voice quickly added.

"I saw with my own eyes that the RPG explosion affected him; he was dragged away! Their manpower has been breached! There's definitely a hole in their defenses!"

"That's useless too!"

After finishing his tirade, the B company commander remained silent for a moment before issuing a death order:

"They're at their last gasp! Twenty men are being transferred from the north flank! Ten men from the 1st Company of Platoon B are being withdrawn! That's the remaining seven of you!"

"Form a second commando team of nearly forty people!"

"Listen, that NATO aid shipment on the south side must be retaken!"

The voice quickly replied, "Understood! Mission accomplished!"

-----------------

After listening, Yuri looked at Eugene beside him.

"Brothers, this is the last wave." Yuri's calm voice came through the communication channel.

"All units, report casualties and inventory ammunition! Quickly!"

Artyom leaned Ruslan against the bottom of the carriage and quickly checked his own ammunition pouch: "I have three spare magazines and a defensive grenade. Ruslan's wounds have been treated, and his PKP machine gun has half a magazine, about a hundred rounds."

"I can still fight," Ruslan growled through gritted teeth in the channel.

"I'm out of C4 and mines." Roman patted his backpack, then pulled the bolt. "I have four full magazines left in my rifle and two smoke grenades."

Eugene leaned against the wheel, stretching his shoulder where a bullet had grazed it: "Minor shoulder injury, won't affect shooting. The rifle still has two and a half magazines left. The drone has 30% battery left, I've raised it to a fixed position."

Above, Lu Ye lay prone on the roof of the car, slapping a fully loaded special magazine into his sniper rifle with clean, efficient movements.

"Sniper position secure. SVCh rifle, two full tungsten-core armor-piercing magazines, one standard magazine, and one pistol magazine. No grenades."

"I have three magazines left, two underbarrel grenades, one stun grenade, and two smoke grenades." Yuri pulled the bolt and chambered a bullet.

He glanced at the distant night fog, his voice ringing out over the communication channel:

"Hold on for these last three minutes, and we'll go home!"
