Chapter 1297 - 657: Mo Han & Wanwan Arc - If You Don’t Want to Live, Just Say So and I’ll Grant Your Wish
After Mr. Ning left, Ning Wan, who had been hugging her knees without moving, suddenly burst into tears, biting her lip, desperately suppressing her emotions to keep from crying out.
The death of her parents made her feel as if her entire world had collapsed. Even now, she couldn’t quite believe that her beloved mom and dad were gone.
Just two days ago, her parents told her they would take her to Las Vegas for National Day.
But now, none of it could happen.
...
Ning Yan’er was in a good mood. Originally, she was quite upset about being slapped by that wretched girl Ning Wan, but now she actually wanted to thank Ning Wan for that slap. Otherwise, she might not have been able to appear here with Xi Mohan.
Coming out of the doctor’s office, Ning Yan’er immediately spotted the man standing in the corridor, leaning against the wall.
With a gentle smile on her face, she walked straight up to Xi Mohan and spoke softly, "The medicine has been applied. The doctor said I just need to apply some more anti-swelling ointment at home. Mo Han... it’s almost dinner time. Would you like to have dinner with me? And if you can, could you send me home afterward?"
Xi Mohan raised his eyes to Ning Yan’er, just about to speak, when suddenly there was a sound of something falling to the floor, followed by Ning Yan’er’s dissatisfied voice calling out a name.
"Ning Wan..."
Xi Mohan turned his head and immediately saw Ning Wan standing a little distance away, looking at them in a daze, her face completely pale.
At her feet was a glass cup shattered on the floor, and when his gaze fell on her bare feet, his face darkened at once.
Ning Wan hadn’t expected to encounter Xi Mohan and Ning Yan’er here. At first, she had planned to call Xi Mohan, since in her world, the only person she could think of to rely on was Xi Mohan.
Even though she knew Xi Mohan didn’t like her, even despised her, she still held hope for him.
But now she saw Xi Mohan with Ning Yan’er, and the scene inexplicably pierced her heart like a needle.
Xi Mohan’s gaze fell on Ning Wan’s pale little face, and he frowned, not expecting to see her here.
But it wasn’t surprising—his assistant had mentioned that Ning Wan was still in the hospital.
The girl stood there blankly, watching them both, with no one speaking until Ning Wan finally snapped out of it after who knows how long. She then turned to leave but seemingly forgot about the glass shards on the floor and stepped on them barefoot, the pain causing her to scream uncontrollably as her body fell to the side.
Immediately, the man who had been standing still took swift steps towards her, almost running.
Ning Yan’er was momentarily stunned, then called out, "Mo Han..."
Ning Wan collapsed to the floor, fortunately avoiding the glass shards with her hands. Looking down at her feet, tears she had been holding back rolled down once more.
Not just because of the pain in her foot, but the deeper pain in her heart.
Xi Mohan crouched down in front of her, his handsome face full of coldness, "Ning Wan, did you leave your brain behind? Not wearing shoes is one thing, but you broke the glass and stepped on it. Why not just cut off your leg?"
The girl, hearing his words, was crying silently with her head down. Startled, she looked up at his handsome face, blinked a few times, and then lowered her head again, staring at her injured foot. After roughly wiping her tears, she raised her hand to pull out the glass shards from her foot.
But as soon as she lifted her hand, the man crouched beside her quickly grabbed her hand, his voice as cold as water, "Ning Wan, do you have a death wish? If you do, just say the word and I’ll grant it."
Her wrist grabbed by the man, a sudden anger rose within Ning Wan, and she looked at him steadily, gritting her teeth, "Xi Mohan, could I ask you not to appear in front of me?"
She had already decided to stop loving him, so why did he keep appearing before her time and again?
If it weren’t for him showing up at the Ning Family last time and helping her so many times, he wouldn’t have been the first person she thought of.
She suddenly regretted not giving up on her feelings for him sooner, even loving him...
The man didn’t answer her. Instead, he bent down and scooped her up in his arms, carrying her to the doctor’s office with a gloomy face.
Ning Wan hadn’t expected him to pick her up, and she instinctively clutched his shirt in fright, almost crying out, "Xi Mohan, what are you doing?"
The man glanced down at her indifferently and said leisurely, "Your foot is injured. It needs treatment."
Ning Yan’er was taken completely by surprise and watched in a daze as Xi Mohan carried Ning Wan towards the doctor’s office where she’d just come from. Only when he passed right in front of her did she snap back to reality, crying out, "Mo Han, what are you doing?"
Xi Mohan didn’t look at her and naturally didn’t answer her question, walking past her without changing his expression.
When he reached the office door with Ning Wan in his arms, he finally glanced down at the girl he was holding and said calmly, "Knock."
Ning Wan didn’t move, just staring at him with her big eyes, full of discontent.
He wasn’t in a hurry and curled his lips into a cold laugh that came from deep in his throat, "Ning Wan, it’s okay if you don’t knock. We can just stand here and wait it out. I have plenty of time, but you... you still have your parents’ matters to handle."
Ning Wan’s expression changed, and she looked steadily at the man in front of her, "Xi Mohan, I suddenly regret falling for you."
Yes, she regretted it.
But does regret matter?
Just like now, she decided not to love him anymore, to make sure she wouldn’t fall for him again.
Yet her heart was out of her control.
She felt less like herself with each passing day, falling hopelessly into the trap set by this man.
