Chapter 2439: Guests

One hour later.

Arkiv's projection once again appeared in the room.

After the Westlake was attacked, Sam attacked one more city and that also happened to be within Arkiv's calculations.

"How do you know these cities will be attacked?" Mirk asked. His tone was cold and angry. His gaze almost looked like he wanted to devour Arkiv.

"I already explained it to you, Mirk. Its all calculations. I identified the pattern, calculated and figured out who was going to be targeted."

"I don't believe you. How can you just quantify the competence of a team? Particularly, when you don't know how exactly are they going to perform. No matter how much you knew about them, what if they were having an off day.

What if they were feeling particularly good? What if they had a breakthrough? How can you take all these variables into account when deciding how competent someone is?" Mirk was having none of it. After all, the moment he accepts Arkiv's calculations are right, is the moment that his leadership will be shaken.

"It doesn't matter if those variables are there.

You have to see things from Sam's perspective. He wouldn't know if any of these variables appeared. So, he would base his calculations based on whatever knowledge that he had and I am doing my calculations based on that." Arkiv replied with a shrug.@@@@

Before Mirk could try to figure out and argue back, someone else cut in.

A woman, who was not directly present, but only her projection was there.

"So, Arkiv. Who is going to be the next target?"

"The Eastern Mountain City."

"That's not too far from my place. I will send some of my forces there and see if you are right. If you are, you will be in charge of the defense strategy."

"Alright." Arkiv agreed without any resistance.

The woman turned to Mirk and said.

"There is no point in arguing this, Mirk. We might not understand his methods, but we do need to figure out if the results are accurate. So far, it did work. We are going to give it one more test and see what happens.

We cannot be losing to one guy who wasn't even in the second grade for a couple of months."

She cut off the communication without waiting for Mirk's reply.

The rest of the people also cut off their communication including Arkiv. Once all the projections are gone, Mirk collapsed into his chair with gritted teeth.

This is the reason he didn't want to admit to Arkiv's theories.

Ever since the disastrous loss in the inter academy tournament, the hierarchy in the academy has changed. He might be the current best candidate, however he wasn't the only one. The rest of the members were not too far behind.

He was worried that his leadership will be threatened and that's exactly what has happened. As he was contemplating, what to do next, time passed and a message came.

"Mirk, Sam has indeed attacked the East Mountain, however Niki did deploy her forces and they are currently battling it out.

The battle is a bit unbalanced, still. And its tilting over to Sam's side, however Arkiv's prediction was right."

Another half an hour later, there was another meeting.

The discussion was heated. While Arkiv did prove his point, there were some men on Mirk's side. Basically, Niki who supported Arkiv suggested that they would create a space gate chain connected to the next attack location.

They will jump Sam there.

But Mirk and the others didn't want to take that route.

They wanted to make sure their other locations are secure as well.

With a single hit, the formation collapsed and the beasts landed in the middle of the city. Unlike before, where Sam only brought one type of beast, this time there are several kinds.

Some apes, some elephants, some tigers, some birds.

He didn't leave any of them out. The forest is almost empty.

The beasts laid waste to people and property alike. Sam flew in the air, the spatial energy still surging around him as he looked at Mirk.

He had a smirk on his face, he pointed at Mirk and taunted him to come and fight.

Mirk got angry. He reached his breaking point. A bow appeared in his hands as he flew towards Sam. Arrows with fire elemental energy raged as they attacked Sam.

Sam activated spatial fusion and dodged the attacks, coming at Mirk with his staff.

Ten minutes later.

Most of the chaos in the city has spread out. The city walls are gone and the battles extended

beyond that.

The mansion that acted as the base has collapsed. It was torn down and gotten destroyed,

leaving behind nothing but a crater. And in the middle of that crater, Mirk laid down on his back. He couldn't move a single inch. His limbs were destroyed, his spine... felt like it wasn't

even there and his vision was fuzzy.

He looked at the clear blue sky.

Sam stood over him with the staff still in his hands.

"I thought you were going to put up some challenge. You are a bloody Weakling."

He sounded genuinely disappeared.

"It is a waste of breath, talking to you. I will finish you off and go after the next one."

Sam raised his staff and was about to blow his head off.

At that moment...

"Don't worry. The next one came to you."

Mirk heard a familiar voice and his heart sank. While his whole body has turned numb, now he

can feel a burning sensation on his face.

The embarrassment and humiliation that came with it. He turned his head slightly to look at

Arkiv standing far away with his bow in his hands.

Sam looked at him and said.

"I thought I would save the best for the last, but since you are here, it would be pretty

impolite to not to reciprocate."

He threw his staff in and took out both of his handguns.

"I am glad I came and I hope you don't mind. I brought some guests."

Niki arrived and stood behind Sam, a few meters away.
