In the tranquil embrace of the early morning, as the clock struck seven, an unexpected pair arrived in style. Their luxurious, bulletproof car glided to a graceful halt just outside the palace where Das is living.
Stepping out onto the cobblestone driveway, they made for an arresting sight—a vivacious, twenty-year-old girl beside a poised and sophisticated forty-year-old woman.
The grandeur of the ancient palace, illuminated by the morning sun, unveiled itself before them. Its walls, weathered by time yet standing with regal dignity, seemed to breathe tales of a bygone era. The palace, a sentinel of history, exuded an aura of mystery, as if it's very stones whispered secrets of a forgotten past.
"Is this the place...?" Bella, the forty year old woman asked while checking out the palace.
With a nod of affirmation from Latha, they embarked on their approach toward this architectural relic. Their footfalls echoed through the courtyard, while the stately palace walls bore witness to the presence of these unexpected visitors.
As soon as Princess Serena recognised Bella, the formidable manager of the Farus family, her heart raced, and her mind went into overdrive. With a sense of urgency, she issued swift instructions to Sana.
"Sana, inform Das immediately. Say that Farus family manager is here. By the way don't reveal my name or where abouts to her. It's important." she whispered urgently and went inside her to avoid any mistakes.
Sana nodded in response and hastened to execute princess's directive. She directly ordered the servants to receive the two ladies and she dashed towards Das room.
In the meantime, Stella, who had been diligently tending to her duties, preparing clothes for Das as he is taking a shower, remained unaware of the unfolding events outside. The baby, cradled in her arms, was blissfully unaware of the tension that hung in the air.
Steam billowed from the shower, curling and dissipating in the bathroom's warm, moist air. As Das stepped out onto the tiled floor, he was enveloped in a cloud of comforting humidity. Droplets of water clung to his bronzed skin like nature's own jewels, sparkling in the soft ambient light of the room. With a bath room wrapped around, Das stepped out of the shower. He turned his attention to Stella, who bustled about the room with focused intent. She was carefully selecting his clothes for the day, laying them out in precise order. Das couldn't help but appreciate her presence; she brought order and serenity to his life, even in the most chaotic moments.
The sound of hurried footsteps approaching in the hallway outside pulled his attention away from the task at hand. Das glanced inquiringly at Stella, who mirrored his curiosity. Before she could respond, the door swung open, revealing Sana, her usually composed demeanour fraying at the edges.
"What happened? Why do you look so tense?" Das inquired with a genuine smile as he emerged from the refreshing shower, the droplets of water glistening on his skin.
Sana, who had been running with a sense of urgency, didn't waste a moment. She quickly informed Das of the situation, her words delivered with an air of tension,
"Sir, it's urgent."
Latha, the younger of the two Farus family members, was quick to join the tirade. Her voice carried a piercing quality, laden with indignation as she pointed an accusing finger at Das. Her eyes blazed with righteous anger, and she couldn't fathom the audacity of this man who dared to sit so casually in the presence of Farus family authority.
Latha's protests grew louder, but they fell upon deaf ears. Das paid her no mind, his focus solely on Bella. His response was a challenge, a brazen assertion of his autonomy.
"I'm not a servant to your family," he retorted, his gaze locked onto Bella's. "So, stop threatening me in my place. First tell me the reason for your presence." Das asked while staring at Bella.
The room crackled with tension, each word exchanged like a verbal volley in a high-stakes game. Bella's initial anger gave way to a more measured response.
"Good... very good," she said, her tone taking on a mocking smirk. Her eyes bore into Das's, unblinking and unwavering. "Das... (pause) You are very straightforward. So, I also speak directly."
"Tell me, which side are you on?" Bella asked while staring at red colour eyes of Das without batting an eye lid.
"What a tragedy," Das continued, his tone tinged with sarcasm. "Instead of mourning for the Farus family's loss, you guys came here to ask me this. Hmmhh..." Das smirked with a pitiful glance.
"I promised Princess Amara that I will hold this city for the Farus family until they protect me from the Aries family and until you guys don't spy my personal life." Das explained, his voice unwavering in its resolve. His eyes locked onto Bella's, a challenge and a warning contained within his gaze. The unspoken message was clear: tread carefully.
The room seemed to hold its collective breath as the weight of his words sank in. Bella and Latha exchanged glances, the realisation dawning that Das knew about her brother, about the Farus family's situation, and about the delicate balance of power in the city.
Latha's voice broke the silence, revealing her youthful impatience. "How do you know about my brother?" she demanded to know.
But Das did not entertain her question lightly. He spoke with the authority of someone who held sway in the city.
"Stop thinking like a kid," he admonished. "I may not compare to your family, but this city is under my control."
The air in the room seemed charged, each word exchanged a move in a calculated game. Das's final words were delivered with a hint of mischief, a smile that seemed to suggest he held the upper hand.
"Actually, you guys came at the right time. I also decided to gift your family a surprise."
