Chapter 153 Life is full of mysteries
"Hera? Is that you?" Lyneth asked in disbelief when she saw Hera sitting next to Mykel with little Sasha on her lap when she entered the penthouse. "Hera!" Lyneth walked hurriedly and then hugged Hera so tightly because of how much she missed her.
"Long time no see, Lyn," Hera chuckled and wrapped her arms around Lyneth's body. "You have become a lot stronger now, and somehow more gorgeous," Hera said.
They were both already in their own world and it had always been like that before. They both were showing affection and intimacy that somehow they were more than just best friends.
"Dad, I'm hungry..." Little Sasha said as she tried to sit on Mykel's lap.
"Me too," Mykel replied as he helped little Sasha sit on his lap. "What should we eat for lunch?" Mykel asked as he looked at his phone to check which food he should make.
"Medium rare steak with garlic roasted potatoes!" Little Sasha as she looked at Mykel.
"That's your big sister's favorite food, but let's make that," Mykel said and carried Sasha on his back as he walked to the kitchen. "Do you miss your sister?" Mykel asked as he looked over his shoulder.
"Hmm..." Little Sasha nodded her head and she was sulking because of it. "Big sis promised to play with me this Sunday, but she's not here," Sasha continued with a saddened tone.
"Well, she's in the middle of training, so I think she can't play with you today. How about I play with you instead? We can play after we eat," Mykel asked as he put little Sasha on the kitchen island so he could prepare the ingredients. "For now, let's cook," Mykel smiled and showed the ingredients in the fridge.
Little Sasha nodded and she was so excited to help Mykel cook since it was always fun to do.
"We love the right man, aren't we?" Lyneth asked Hera who stood beside her and they both watched those two have fun in the kitchen.
"Yes, but if I can keep him for myself, I would," Hera whispered into Lyneth's ear and answered jokingly.
Lyneth squinted her eyes and judgingly stared at Hera as she slowly walked toward her with her fists ready. Hera immediately held Lyneth's hands and stopped her from going further.
"Auntie? You're here?" Elena asked as she looked at Lyneth trying to grab Hera's body.
When Hera was asleep and Mykel was carrying her to the bed, but on his way to the bedroom, he saw Amaryllis was on her own on the balcony. After he put Hera on the bed, he went to the balcony to check on her as he smoked his cigarette.
"What are you doing out here on your own?" Mykel asked as he looked at the city with no light.
"I'm thinking about Elena and what she's trying to achieve," Amaryllis answered. "She was risking her life in her training, Mykel. She pushed herself to the limit with zero progress for the past few years," Amaryllis explained and she looked so worried about Elena's situation.
"Is that really what you think?" Mykel asked with a smile and eyebrows raised as he looked at Amaryllis.
Seeing Mykel's expression and answer made her confused because it was obvious that Elena was in need of help.
"Yes, and she's endangering herself by doing this non-stop, and I'm afraid that something bad would happen to her," Amaryllis answered with her eyebrows furrowed and putting her hands on the railing so tightly.
"Do you believe that she has a limit? And what makes you think that what she was doing is pointless?" Mykel asked as he leaned his back against the railing with the cigarette in his mouth.
Amaryllis was confused by the question.
"Because I'm the system, and I know everyone's capability. No matter how I calculate it, she's only harming herself," Amaryllis answered in disbelief.
"Is that so?" Mykel paused with a smile. "Then answer these two questions. If what she was doing is pointless, then how Beldathiel managed to upgrade her Sloth skill into Inertia if what she did was sleeping? My next question is if everyone has a limit, then what's my limit?" Mykel asked with his eyebrows raised.
Those questions made Amaryllis realize that she couldn't answer them, and realized how she couldn't predict anything until the results appeared in front of her. She understood what Mykel was saying, and she knew that she couldn't control everything and predict everything that she calculated.
"Nobody knows exactly what's their own limit moreover judging others limit, Amaryllis," Mykel said as he stood straight and then walked closer to Amaryllis. "Everyone can grow, and their limitation is growing smaller and smaller because of that. That includes you because you're also growing as you live, so don't discourage them with what you think," Mykel continued as he smiled gently at her.
"Life is full of mysteries," Mykel said and gently rubbed Amaryllis's head. "All you can do is to anticipate what will or would happen," Mykel added.
Amaryllis closed her eyes and chuckled as she nodded her head.
"You're right. Thank you for opening my eyes, Mykel," Amaryllis smiled back at Mykel.
