Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 1231 Bravado

Chapter 1231 Bravado

The one who spoke was none other than the missing Kyran. But even after speaking, it was still hard to pinpoint his location.

"Dimension, you say?" Lucian growled in annoyance. "You think you can trap me at this level?"

As soon as he said that, Lucian's light expanded further, and the concentrated magic energies he aimed at the massive hand grew in size and its piercing nature more prominent. Proof of this was how it started to push back the massive hand with each collision. The hand still had no visible damage, but Lucian's attacks had fully neutralized its descent.

The moment Lucian released more of his power, several distortions appeared in the surroundings.

There were several reasons for distortions to appear. One was if a high-level mage released a highly potent magic energy; another was when two powerful mages' magic energy clashed. Thus, the appearance of distortions around them was not a strange occurrence.

In this case, the latter was a more fitting cause than the former because Lucian's current state could not affect the Higher Realm's laws and space.

In any case, the distortions around them meant that Kyran's magic energy level at the moment was strong enough to face Lucian's. Technically, this situation was to be expected. Kyran's possession of the Void Core was practically a cheat to any mage. However, that did not mean that Lucian was happy with it.

Even if he knew his current strength could only go up to 70%, that did not make him feel any better.

Lucian was the Supreme Overlord. There should be no other mage in the Higher Realm that could pose any threat to him, even with a 30% handicap.

CRACK! CRACK!

Cracking sounds filled the air as Lucian's magic energy grew further. The sound was reminiscent of when cracks formed in his Dimension.

"You are only a lowly mage from the Lower Realm!" Lucian growled as he continued to expand his Divine Sense to locate the Void Master. "Even if you have the Void Core, you are merely an insect before me. Do you think you have managed to stay alive because of your strength?

"FOOL!

"It is because I have kept you alive!"

Lucian's monologue reverberated in the surroundings like a boisterous thunder.

"I CAN KILL YOU ANYTIME!"

From a hidden location, a vague distortion could be seen. Actually, rather than calling it hidden, it was in a very inconspicuous spot that was easily overlooked. The scattered distortions also assisted in concealing it.

That vague distortion was Kyran himself. He was somewhat perplexed at what happened to him. In fact, he was still unsure of his current state except for the feeling of being in control.

This happened right after his magic cores— all four at that— resonated, and Shaiha, trying to keep them under control, was slowly assimilated to their resonance. In any case, Kyran did not think the change would hurt him. However, he was also aware that it was only temporary.

Shaiha also felt the same. That was why she constantly informed Kyran of the state of all his magic cores.

The cracking sounds that echoed in the air, suspected to be Kyran's Dimension showing signs of weakening, actually came from the Crespuscule Auction House's destruction. The plane managed to stay intact even after Lucian's arrival because of all the legendary relics used as its foundation.

However, the relics' effects finally reached their limits when Lucian released his true form.

One after another, the relics embedded all over the Crespuscule Auction House turned to dust from the overwhelming amount of magic energy circulating in the surroundings. The magic fluctuations also made it hard for the relics to maintain their stability.

Soon after the relics were destroyed, the plane started to crumble.

From a distance, overseeing the Crespuscule Auction House, one would easily see two huge figures— one as black as the night sky, while the other a blinding light— atop it, while its bottom crumbled.

In fact, merchant ships en route to the Crespuscule Auction House could see the plane's destruction. Not wanting to get caught up in whatever was happening there, they had already turned around and retreated.

Apart from these merchant ships, several private and public ships were adrift a little close to the Crepuscule Auction House. These ships carried all the evacuees of the plane.

Among those ships were a dozen with the Crespuscule Clan insignia. Inside the control room of the largest ship was Marigold. She and the surviving members of their clan watched the plane crumble from the control room's panoramic screen.

Their expressions were somewhat cold as if they did not care what happened at the Crespuscule Auction House. However, that was only bravado. They were sad to witness their plane's destruction. Nevertheless, they were prepared for this when they decided to rebel.

Marigold, in particular, felt what happened had been all too fast. As a matter of fact, they did not expect their rebellion would commence and end that day. She had expected a long-drawn battle against Estrid and her people if their initial scenario had happened.

In the end, a lot of unexpected factors happened. And it all started when Marigold followed her instinct and talked to Cyneah.

"With this... the Crepuscule Auction House's inevitable fall follows..."

Marigold looked at the elder fox, one of the few who supported her to be the new leader of the clan, who muttered those words.

"...No."

"...?"

The elder looked at her in confusion.

Without answering, Marigold turned her attention back to the screen.

"...This is where it starts..."

BOOOM!

From the screen, they watched as the whole plane exploded. Continue your journey with empire
